When Missouri established a 24-point lead in the first half, the possibility of a court storm had to be on top of most minds. Kansas brought it within two with 2:20 remaining, but Missouri survived to win 76-67.

Although Gates didn’t do that, he did call a timeout with six seconds to play. The timeout allowed the Jayhawks to safely get off the court as the buzzer sounded on KU’s 76-67 loss to Missouri.

Kansas basketball coach Bill Self gave a shoutout to Missouri head coach Dennis Gates after the Tigers’ upset of the No. 1 Jayhawks. Self’s statement, however, was not about the Tigers’ win but in reference to a surprising gesture Missouri’s coach made at the end of the game.

The Missouri Tigers claimed a season-altering 76-67 win over the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks at home, thwarting its rival on offense and jumping down its throats.
