The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah militants starts after nearly 14 months of fighting.

The deal would include a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon, as well as the retreat of Hezbollah fighters to north of the Litani River.

President Biden said the 60-day truce, which the United States helped broker, would take effect early Wednesday, and was intended to become permanent, ending Lebanon’s deadliest war in decades.
