India have lifted the Champions Trophy in Dubai but only after KL Rahul dragged them across the line again for a hard-earned, nervy four-wicket victory in the final following an absorbing battle with New Zealand in Dubai.

India won another global cricket tournament with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday. Rohit Sharma led the chase with 76 off 83 balls and Lokesh Rahul’s unbeaten 34 helped India cross the finish line on 254-6 in 49 overs to win the Champions Trophy for the third time.

India reached the final of the Champions Trophy beating Australia by four wickets in the first semi-final in Dubai on Tuesday. Australia rode half-centuries by skipper Steve Smith and Alex Carey to post a competitive 264 all out at a venue which has typically produced low-scoring contests in the tournament.
