It's been agonizing to watch Michelin sponsor MotoGP for the past few years. Tire pressure problems were the most talked about topic, before becoming a taboo, off-limits subject. Either way, it didn't paint Michelin in a good light.

Michelin will lose its place as the official tyre supplier for MotoGP and MotoE at the end of 2026, instead replaced by Italian giants Pirelli, but what does it make of the situation?

Pirelli is due to become MotoGP’s sole tire supplier after it was confirmed the Italian firm will be taking over from Michelin from the 2027 season. The news comes as a shock to the racing world, as well as Michelin. The French company, who has been MotoGP’s singly tire supplier since 2016, was desperate to keep hold of the contract.

MotoGP: The agreement reached with Dorna will last for five years, until 2031. The Italian company will as a result supply its tyres to all MotoGP classes, including MotoE

Pirelli will become the official tire supplier to MotoGP from 2027. A new five-year contract until 2031 inclusive, currently being finalized, will coincide with a new era for the sport as new MotoGP bikes and technical regulations debut in 2027.

MotoGP will part ways with its current tire supplier, Michelin, after they were unable to finalize on mutual terms for the future.
