STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Memorial Day is a holiday on which the nation honors those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. In some cases, that appreciation comes in the form of patriotic parades, which can result in road closures. This is the case for this weekend in New York City, as many of these processions are taking place.
A Memorial Day service at the Cicero Cemetery, 8554 Brewerton Road precedes the parade at 10:30 a.m. Parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Brewerton Road and end at the American Legion on Legionnaire Drive. There will be a memorial service at the Legion monument followed by a lunch.
