The Brazilian government has criticized a new U.S. tariff on certain Brazilian imports and says it plans to impose reciprocal tariffs.
”There is no justification for unilateral measures against our country,” said the the office of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The Trump administration has made good on its threats to raise tariffs on Brazil, upping duties to a precipitous 25 percent this week over "unfair" trade practices.
The United States plans to impose a 25% tariff on some Brazilian imports from next week, after a yearlong investigation concluded that the country had engaged in “unfair” trade practices.
Canada is engulfed by more than 900 wildfires that have sent smoke into the U.S., blanketing the Midwest and Northeast and causing air quality concerns. President Trump this week threatened to impose tougher tariffs on Canada because of the smoke.
