When Valve released the Steam Deck, PC manufacturers realized there could be a new market for small, handheld computers that are capable of running games.

The Legion Go S leak shows it will come in a white colorway with non-removable grips and triggers that resemble the first Asus ROG Ally. The current Legion Go model has removable controller grips, like the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con controllers.

In fact, Lenovo may be launching two gaming handhelds very soon. The successor to its popular Legion Go flagship, and a smaller, more affordable handheld we now know is called the Legion Go S (previously called the Legion Go Lite).

After the article was written, the Asus ROG Ally X was released and has taken over the throne as the new "best gaming handheld". However, the Ally X is far more expensive: even with today's Cyber Monday deal, it still costs $699.99. The Legion Go is definitely a much better value for the price.

Some clear changes from the original Legion Go include a more rounded look, a change in layout with the Menu and View buttons now closer to the display, and having no touchpad. However, the biggest change of all is the lack of detachable controllers — one of the Legion Go's unique highlights.

The more affordable Legion Go "S" is expected to be less powerful than the Legion Go based on the Z1 Extreme, but will be a more affordable option potentially for those looking to jump into the ecosystem.
