NASCAR filed a countersuit against Michael Jordan's race team 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports on Wednesday, March 5 in response to a federal suit filed in October.

NASCAR sued 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports, saying in court documents that the two companies want to eliminate the charter system.

XI and Front Row Motorsports were the only two teams out of 15 that refused to sign new charter agreements, which were presented to the teams last September in a take-it-or-leave-it offer a mere 48 hours before the start of NASCAR's playoffs.

This development sees the extension of an existing relationship between 23XI Racing, which is co-owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin, and Upper Deck. The partnership started in 2024, focusing on creating exclusive trading cards and memorabilia that highlight the team's successful history in the sport.
