TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. − Authorities on July 27 were still trying to determine why a 42-year-old man went on a stabbing rampage at a local Walmart, wounding 11 people and prompting chaos as patrons scrambled to exit the building.

A barn was destroyed, and a home and crops were damaged as a result of the tornado, according to the National Weather Service.

Dave Kook, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, confirmed the tornado, citing the video and preliminary damage reports. "We've got someone up there doing a survey right now to assess the damage and possible strength of the first tornado," Kook said.
