After U.S. travelers battled through harsh weekend weather to reach home following the Thanksgiving holiday, forecasters say residents of the Great Lakes region face the prospect of more snow through the week.

After a weekend of extreme snowfall and accumulations of almost 5 feet near the northern border of New York, lake-effect snow bands lingered Monday morning. The Lake Ontario snow band had mostly dried up,

Lake-effect snow continued to fall on parts of western New York that were already blanketed with a foot or more over the past four days.

Post-Thanksgiving travel will be treacherous in parts of the Great Lakes region on Monday with more lake-effect snow falling after the region was already buried under feet of it, while cold temperatures remain across a large swath of the United States.
