The New York Jets are planning to interview Maryland football coach Mike Locksley on Friday, according to the NFL Network.

Locksley has never coached in the NFL before. Prior to joining Maryland as their head coach, he spent three years at Alabama ultimately becoming their offensive coordinator. He’s been with the Terrapins since 2019 and after a rough first two seasons (5-12, 3-11 Conference Record combined), Maryland showed signs of improvement in 2021.

He ended up on the Jets’ radar because of a reputation fostered as a strong program culture-builder in the Big Ten during his second stint calling the shots.
