Ovechkin was also taken up to Gretzky's restaurant, Studio 99 inside Rogers Place, where he posed with one of the many jerseys up on the wall. A memorabilia collector himself, Ovechkin owns a stick given to him by Gretzky when Washington won the Stanley Cup in 2018. It's one of his prized possessions.

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored in the 3rd period against the Nashville Predators to bring him within 21 goals of Wayne Gretzky.

Ovechkin has 21 goals in 29 games, including six in 11 games since returning from a broken leg that held him out for 40 days. He's scoring at a pace of .72 goals per game and 2.49 goals per 60 minutes, the most in the league of any skater.
