A BART police officer was hospitalized early Monday after his patrol car was hit by a vehicle that allegedly ran a red light in Richmond, authorities said.

RICHMOND — A BART police officer suffered serious injuries but was expected to survive following a suspected hit-and-run crash early Monday, authorities said. The officer was in his patrol car, when somebody collided with him after running a red light, according to a statement from BART spokesperson Jim Allison. The officer was hospitalized.
