The LSU program claims 4 national championships in its history — 1958, 2003, 2007 and 2019. Four different head coaches have won national titles for the Tigers. Those coaches were Paul Dietzel in 1958, the legendary Nick Saban in 2003, Les Miles in 2007 and Ed Orgeron in 2019.

Williams spent four years with the Tigers as a player from 2002-2005. There, he won a national championship in 2003 and was named a Second-Team All-American in his senior season.
