United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed the start of the ceasefire and hostage release in Gaza. In a social media post, Antonio Guterres said UN stands ready to scale up the delivery of sustained humanitarian relief to the countless Palestinians who continue to suffer.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed support on Sunday for the implementation of a ceasefire and hostage release in Gaza. "I welcome the start of the implementation of the ceasefire and hostage release in Gaza," Guterres stated in a post on X.

Israel's full Cabinet was meeting Friday evening on the Gaza ceasefire deal that would pause the fighting and release dozens of hostages held by Hamas militants along with Palestinians imprisoned by Israel.
