Marvel's had a rough 2025 at the box office, but The Fantastic Four: First Steps should be the rebound it desperately needed.

As of mid-Friday, estimates suggest an opening day haul of around $56 million, including the $24 million in previews. This marks a remarkable achievement, as it puts the film on par with Superman’s domestic opening day of $56.5 million.

The site believes that Fantastic Four 2025’s box office performance is still continuing “at an expected pace” and that “tracking and pre-sales fit within the usual Marvel mode.” However, the new numbers are “accounting for direct competition against Superman’s first week of release,” a film which is still displaying “early positive holds.”

First Steps is off to a strong start at the box office and is on pace to exceed its initial opening weekend projections. According to Deadline, First Steps is currently estimated to gross between $120-125 million domestically over its first three days.

Internationally, the MCU movie is projected to earn around $90 million to $100 million or more. Thus, the worldwide opening collection is expected to be within the $190 million to $210 million range. It will be the biggest since last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine. However, it will still be far behind Deadpool 3’s domestic weekend collection.
