Ambulances and trucks carrying humanitarian aid lined up at the Egyptian border on their way to the Gaza Strip as a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect on Sunday.

Palestinians celebrated Israel’s release of 90 Palestinian prisoners early Monday, hours after Hamas freed three Israeli hostages in Gaza, setting off joyous reunions with their families. The exchange capped the first of what is hoped will be a series of weekly hostage-for-prisoner swaps over the next six weeks.

With the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas now in effect, Gazans are finally able to return to what’s left of their homes. Journalists on the ground are now also able to access the area and share images of places that were – until today – mostly cut off.
