In 2022, the century-old former railroad bridge reopened after being closed for almost two years to repair damage caused by a fire started underneath its wooden frame.
TxDOT is working on two bridge projects in the Ben Bolt - Palito Blanco area in Jim Wells County. The San Andreas and Tranquitas Creek Bridges are in serious need of repair.
