In an update issued on February 7, NASA said the probability of 2024 YR4 hitting the Earth had gone from around 1.2 percent (one-in-83) to 2.3 percent (one-in-43).

YR4, which was revealed on December 27, 2024, is now receiving greater attention as the chance of it colliding with Earth increases.

NASA stated that there is currently a 2.3 per cent (or 1 in 43) chance that the asteroid will hit Earth on December 22, 2032.
