The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says it has opened a criminal investigation into rape and sexual assault allegations against Motown music luminary Smokey Robinson.

The Motown legend, who was accused in a lawsuit earlier this month of sexually assaulting four former housekeepers, is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A lawsuit also accuses him of creating a a hostile work environment, making them work illegally long hours and lack of pay.
