President Donald Trump on Wednesday levied a 50% tariff against Brazil, which produces more than a third of the world's coffee, citing, in part, the country's treatment of former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is on trial before Brazil's Supreme Court for his alleged role in a 2023 coup attempt.
Talks with the European Union are of particular interest, as the bloc trades even more with the U.S. than China.
