Less than a year into his tenure as Cisco’s president of go-to-market, Gary Steele will leave the tech giant to lead drone and defense technology startup Shield AI.

Drone and defense technology startup Shield AI has named Gary Steele as its new chief executive officer, adding a veteran tech leader less than a week after announcing a new funding deal at a $5.3 billion valuation.

Gary Steele, currently Cisco’s president for go-to-market, will take the reins at Shield AI on join its board of directors on May 13.
