Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. As reported by the ECHO on Monday, the Reds have agreed a £79m deal for the 23-year-old French striker, who is set to undergo a medical today.
Liverpool are advancing in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over the transfer of Hugo Ekitike. The club’s proposed package to sign the 23-year-old striker is in excess of €80million (£69.2m; $92.7m) and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.
In stark contrast to recent transfer windows, the Reds have massively flexed their muscles in the marketplace this summer, bringing in Giorgi Mamardashvili (deal done in 2024), Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez for a combined outlay exceeding £170m.
Liverpool famously vetoed the £53m signing of Nabil Fekir from Lyon back in June 2018 after becoming aware of a knee issue, once the Frenchman had carried out his medical. Therefore, if something similar occurs during Ekitike’s medical check, those at Anfield could well send him back to Frankfurt.
Hugo Ekitike is on the verge of joining Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt and it could affect Nicolas Jackson's short-term future at Chelsea.
Liverpool are on the brink of confirming the signing of striker Hugo Ekitike, with the forward set to link up with his new team in Hong Kong.
