The Washington Huskies earned a victory to start off Big Ten play, beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers 11-5 on the road on Saturday.

Washington hammered Husker pitching throughout a victory to open a Saturday doubleheader at Haymarket Park. A five-run first inning and five-run fifth clinched the result for the Huskies

No home field advantage for Nebraska baseball. Washington swept Nebraska in a doubleheader Saturday at Haymarket Park, 11-5 and 6-3. The Huskies improve to 7-8 on the year and 2-0 in the Big Ten Conference while the Huskers fall to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Washington is led by new head coach Eddie Smith. Smith made a name first as a hitting coach on the Virginia teams that first started coming to Omaha in the 2009 and 2011 seasons. He went on to different spots before LSU came calling in the 2020-2021 seasons.
