Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham says it’s time to move the state fairgrounds out of the heart of Albuquerque for a massive redevelopment. Now, the state is asking for ideas on where Expo New Mexico should go and what should become of the hundreds of acres it would leave behind.

Part of the plan for moving the state fair to a new area is issuing a request for proposals on Wednesday. According to the governor's office, New Mexico lawmakers allocated $500,000 in capital outlay funding to develop the master plan. The proposals will be looked at in late January with a six-month timeline for production.

City and state leaders announced Tuesday they are ready to redevelop the expansive piece of land in the center of Albuquerque.
