Rutgers football defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak is expected to become the new head coach at UMass, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Wednesday morning. Harasymiak, a Waldwick native, is in his third season with the Scarlet Knights, who are awaiting their bowl destination after a 7-5 season.

The 38-year-old Harasymiak is a New Jersey native who played college football at Springfield in Massachusetts.
