Terrifying History on Instagram: "On January 13, 2012, the Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia struck a submerged rock off the coast of Giglio Island, Italy. The impact tore a massive gash in the hull, causing the ship to lose power, list severely, and eventually capsize partially onto its starboard side. The disaster was precipitated by an unauthorized “salute” or “fly-by” maneuver ordered by the ship’s captain, Francesco Schettino. He deviated from the approved computerized course to sail clos
