More accurate maps help improve navigation and our understanding of deep-sea currents and tides. How can we map it from space? SWOT measures tiny bumps on the sea surface caused by features underneath that have different gravitational pulls based on their mass. Green shows areas with higher gravity, like mountains and plateaus.
