Rare moment of Raggiana bird of paradise dance and mating! I’ve spotted this in Papua New Guinea this week. Many thanks to @andympics for the mating video - while I was busy taking the photos :) The national bird symbol of Papua New Guinea (PNG) is the Raggiana Bird-of-Paradise, also known as “Kumul” in the local Tok Pisin language. It is a prominent symbol of tribal culture and national identity, featured on the country’s national flag and emblem, representing beauty and the nation’s emergence.
